Last week we met up with friends to tailgate before the UT/UCLA game. It was a little rough because we had the wedding the night before and the game was at 2:30, which meant you wanted to get to the tailgate no later than noon. The people that set up were there around 6am (or earlier) to get everything set up and ready to go. They are the troopers of tailgating and have been doing it for years and years with their family. Luckily we are friends with their son, so we head out there to hang out before games.

Half of our crew went to the game and half went to a bar to watch the game. Jim had the chance to go watch the game, but he decided to hang out with his wife instead :) He'll get to go to another game later in the season. Plus, after the loss that UT was handed, Jim was happy that he didn't go.

University of Texas Baseball

We had a great time at the UT baseball game yesterday. We try to catch a few games a season and support UT. Right now UT is on a roll, winning 14 games in a row and we were lucky to see another win. Jim got us fantastic seats, about 8 rows up on the first base side.

This little 3rd grader sang a beautiful version of the Star Spangled Banner. I was impressed!

We ate at the Hat Creek Burger trailer on the park. I have had a few of their burgers from their location on Burnet Rd. I will say, next time we go I doubt I'll get this burger. While it was good, $7.50 for just a burger, even at a ball park, is way to expensive. The burger was good but not great. There was a Poke-E-Joes next to Hat Creek, and they had sandwiches for $6, so we'll probably give them a try next time.

The pitcher, Brandon Workman, did an awesome job pitching! He struck out 9 batters in 6 innings (I think he went 6 innings). The final score was 9-3.

I did a major no-no at this game. I forgot to wear sunscreen and now my left arm is a nice shade of red. Arrrghhh!

Tailgating for UT game

We have some friends that tailgate for every UT game, and we thought it would be a great experience for Lee and Aaron. We took a cab down there because parking is a nightmare and it was safer since we were all drinking.

It was freakin packed every where around the campus. There were people tailgating at every possible open space. It was a lot of fun

Once the game started, we headed over to a Mexican food place to watch the game. It was close and I didn't think it would be that crowded (and I was right). It was a perfect place to enjoy some food and watch the game. While we were eating, Aaron made friends with the table next to us, so they did a shot together.

At half time, Jim and I decided that our old asses were ready to head home and watch the rest of the game from our couch. The boys decided to head downtown and do a little more partying. Once I sent Lee a text message with our home address (to give to the taxi) they found a pedi cab for the ride downtown.

Lee and Aaron didn't stay out long... maybe an hour or so before they headed back to the house. Sitting out in the heat and the drinking finally caught up to them too. Here is Lee giving Taylor and Chewie some lovin. I'm pretty sure that the guys stayed up and played even more RBI baseball and Techmo football on the old school Nintendo.

First Game of the Season

The first game of the UT season was on Pay Per View. Kind of bullshit if you ask me since they played a team that was clearly going to get crushed by UT (final score was UT: 59 LA- Monroe 20). So we were just going to find a bar to go watch the game (Shooters was our first choice :o) ), but we got the e-mail from Courtney saying that they were going to purchase the game. SWEET! So we had a potluck dinner and watched the game. It was great because we could catch up with friends, eat great food and watch the game. I only watched about half of the game since it was a blow out but UT looked good. I'm excited for the season to be here. Or maybe I'm just excited because I associate football with fall weather, and I am SOOOO ready for cooler temps!

This is Hannah, Kelly's 2 year old. She was so cute, just hanging out half on the couch and half of the coffee table.

We passed on bad habits to the baby doll. Before we knew it, she grabbed the beer and downed it, burped and smiled. I think we have a future party girl!! :)
