Bluebonnets!!!

This year Austin was blessed with a great Bluebonnet crop! Last year due to the lack of rain and late freezes there were absolutely no wild flowers in the area so I couldn't get pictures with Abbey. This was the first year that I could get our little boo boo out in the flowers and I wanted to take advantage of that! In the years past I have gotten really good photos with Chewie and Taylor, so now it was Abbey's turn :)

I guess the sun was a little to much for Chewie... he here is completely happy to be sunning himself.

I LOVE this picture! It was the closest that I could get Chewie and Abbey together without trying to get up and walk away. Jim and I were doing our best to get the dogs to sit...then to look at the camera. Sure Abbey is about 3 feet behind Chewie in the picture, but it works :)

And while the pups were running around smelling flowers, the kittens were resting at home. Probably happy that they had the place to themselves. Here is Jelly resting near the window

Our household officially has more animals than humans, and we are perfectly happy with that! :) We adopted Jelly and Slinky a couple of weeks ago after fostering them for 6 weeks from the Austin Animal Shelter. Originally we wanted to foster to see how the dogs got a long with kittens and vice versa. All of the animals got along so well, we couldn't bear to let them go :) So now I have PLENTY of photo opportunities of the kids playing, and if you read my blog then accept the fact that you'll be subjected to lots of animal photos :)

One thing that I have noticed is that Jelly seems to bother Chewie more and hang out near him, and Slinky bothers Abbey more and will play with her over Chewie. I wonder if the kittens picked out their favorites or if it will change as they get older?

The kittens have started to play with the dogs tails. It is pretty cute to watch them bat around and chase the dogs tails. The dogs look at us like "what did you bring into our house?" every time the kittens get a little feisty!

The kittens are getting a little more comfortable around the house and the dogs. It's kind of cute because they are also bonding with the dogs as well. We haven't gotten a cuddle time between the kittens and the dogs but I have a feeling it is just a matter of time :)

Christmas!!

Hello Blog world! Did you have a nice Christmas? We had a pretty nice Christmas this year, but of course it flew right on buy and now it is over :(. I don't have the holiday photos ready to post yet, but I do have some photos from Christmas Eve and the animals. Of course I chased them around with the camera while trying to dress them up. It just wouldn't be the holidays without those type of pictures! :)

The Kittens (Jelly and Slinky) were to small for all of my Santa hats so I had to quickly take a picture before they took off running in seperate directions

Lovin the weather

This past Sunday we headed out to the Barton Creek Greenbelt to enjoy the sun and get in some exercise. The dogs were ecstatic to be out and about. There are parts of this trail that get pretty narrow, which makes it a little bit of a nightmare because there are mountain bikers that zoom by. Chewie and Abbey don't really get that when a biker is coming right at us, they need to move to the side. We walked through the river bed for a bit because of the open space so the dogs could roam without us worrying about the bike riders.

A couple of weeks ago I took Abbey to the vet for a little rash on her tummy (turned out to be dry skin), and I found out that she was a little overweight. Our baby girl is 65 pounds. 65 POUNDS, she is a damn chunky girl! :) Her chest has started to barrel out a bit, and her legs stopped growing. So we have been feeding her a little less each day and we have been exercising more with her. Looks like Abbey and I will be on a quest to slim down for summer :)

No matter what type of noise or stomp of my foot I did, they would not look at me at the same time. Damn them, don't they know mama wanted to take a picture??!?!

We walked for about 45 minutes to an hour, and could tell that Abbey was done. She was panting but still prancing along the path. However.. as soon as we stopped at the car, she laid down on the cool ground and stayed there for a bit. Doesn't she look like some type of crazy dog in the picture?

After 5 minutes on the ground, and a lot of water, she perked back up

We decided that we weren't ready to go home, so we went to Cuatros to enjoy some lunch and drinks while the dogs rested below the tables. Well, they did a lot of standing but they did behave.

Cuatros was nice enough to bring over a large water bowl for the pups. We had a great afternoon out in Austin... I look forward to many more of these afternoons this spring
