Labor Day at the Lake



Dawn and Matt rented a house out at Lake Buchanan for Labor Day weekend. They stayed all weekend but we just headed out for a day. I loved being able to sit in the lake, catch up with friends, ride jet skis and relax! We opted not to take the dogs because we weren't sure how easy it would be to keep them around us.

I wish I could hang out at the lake like this every weekend.

The end result.... a fun day in the sun, great conversation, and a wonderful meal with friends!




Once we got home, Jim jumped on the floor and wrestled around with the dogs. They loved every minute of it

Did you know you can surf on a lake?

These are were taken using my point and shoot camera over the past weekend. I have NO idea on how to rotate the video, so forgive the crick in your neck that you'll get trying to see the video!!! I am a COMPLETE novice when it comes to surfing but I had a lot of fun doing it. My thighs are still sore from Saturday but it is so worth it. I think I still enjoy wake boarding more, but I think it is because I'm a better wake boarder :) Next time I'll get a video of Jim surfing and post it here.

This was my 2nd time surfing behind a boat. I fell a few times, but overall I think I am getting the hang of it.

Labor Day on the Boat



I'm a little behind on the blog, forgive me. On Labor day weekend we headed to Lake Austin with friends. It was a low key day, where we all got a turn surfing behind the boat. We spent a little time in a cove hanging out, but it was pretty busy considering it was a holiday weekend. We are SO VERY LUCKY to have friends that have boats. I can't imagine a summer without a few trips to the lake. The lakes in Austin are very different than the lakes in Arizona. First off, we live about 15 minutes from Lake Austin, and if I remember correctly the closest lake to where I used to live in AZ was about 45-60 minutes. The lakes in AZ would get closed to boaters due to the lake hitting capacity. People in Austin don't really believe that a state would close a lake due to being to full (or that it would have to many people on the lake).



Anywho.... the day on the boat was so much fun. Both Jim and I were able to get up on the surf board and get the feel for it.

Jen filled that big as mug full of tequila and lemonaid. We all took a swig out of it, and it tasted pretty good, but tequila and the lake (and sun) don't mix for me!

I was a little to far out on the wake, but the goal is to get a little closer to the boat and ride the wake and let go of the rope. One day I'll get to that point!

Memorial Day on Lake Austin

We were lucky enough to hitch a ride on Mike and Charlies boat on Monday. We headed down to Lake Austin to enjoy the water and the sun. The weather was perfect,,, NO RAIN :o) I hadn't been on Lake Austin in a few years and Jim hasn't been on Lake Austin. It seemed to be a more relaxed day than we normally have on Lake Travis. I cant' wait to get back on the lake this summer!

This is kind of hard to see... that is Matt flying through the air. Matt and Charlie spent some time flying off of the swing (which you can't really see in the pictures) into the water. I didn't want to get wet, so I didn't' swing on it, but I'll be doing it next time!
