S * N * O * W

If we are lucky, we get to see snow once a year. Yes, I understand that other parts of the county might think I am nuts for enjoying snow, but I can't help it. Snow is freaking awesome! We had 3 days/nights of seriously low temperatures for Austin. Highs hovering around freezing, and lows around the low 20's to teens. There were a TON of people in Austin complaining about the temperatures, but honestly I just didn't think it was that bad. Perhaps it is because I can remember what summer feels like, and I can't stand butt sweat.. Yeah that's right... I get butt sweat during the summer. File that under TMI (Too Much Information).

On Thursday night, I kept walking outside looking for some type of indication that we could expect snow. However, I kept seeing little bits of rain. BOOOO. Around 11:30, I noticed more of a flake than rain..... see the picture below...

So I went to bed all giddy because I knew I would wake up to a snow covered town. Well, at least I hoped for a snow covered town.

Jim and I ventured outside to check it out, and the neighborhood was eerily quiet. I love hearing the crunch of snow while walking on it. Oh how I wished it snowed at least once a month during winter :)

This was Abby's first time in snow and it didn't even faze her. She took a second to look at the crunching sound while walking on it, then it was back to business as usual. Both of the dogs were completely hyper and ran across the yard chasing each other... as you can see with the next few photos...

She was coming at me full force... it was a little scary :)

I walked down to the creek behind the house to find a beautiful scene. I wish I could have gotten closer to the water for pictures, but it is a steep bank and didn't feel like falling in :)

This video is amazing! I love how they have to keep moving the clock as well as resorting to the yard stick to show how much snow they received! I can't imagine living in an area that receives that much snow!

s * n * o * w

in Austin!!!! Last night when the news was taunting us with the chance of snow, I got a little excited. I should know better than to get excited, because this is Texas and you just never know what the weather is going to be like until you wake up that day and look outside. However, kudos Mr. Weatherman.... you nailed it today!!! Around 10am I looked outside at work and saw the biggest wet drops of snow that I have seen! They were huge, and probably more slush than snow. But I didn't care damn it.... it's snowing in Austin!!! I squealed like a school girl and went outside to take some pictures. Unfortunately, snow/slush/sleet isn't always the easiest to get pictures of. We made a snowman at work and propped him up near the door, he was a hit with all of the people that walked by.

I went home for lunch to let Chewie out and to take a few photos at home with the snow. He has seen ice before, but not snow. He wasn't sure exactly what in the hell was wrong with the grass, but after a minute he was running around the back yard checking everything out.

Hard to see, but I was trying to get the squirell running between the trees with an acorn in his mouth. I was to far away to get a good picture of him.

Jim's Trip

My husband and his friends went on a very cool bachelor party in Lake Tahoe. Simply put I was (am) very jealous of the trip, I wanted to go skiing damn it. It has been YEARS since I have been skiing and I think it is time for a trip! When I lived in Arizona I would go skiing 4-5 times a season. All I had to do is drive about 2 hrs and I'd be in Flagstaff. It wasn't the best skiing in the world, but it was skiing and skiing that I could so in a weekend for very cheap.

So not only did my husband abandon me for many large snow covered mountains for 5 days, he also ate at In and Out burger. Bastard. Kidding..... kind of :) I am just jealous!

Jim took this picture on one of the ski runs. How freakin gorgeous is this view!?!?!? If I ever make it to Heavenly, I know I'll be torn between going skiing and taking pictures. I'm sure I could find a happy balance. I am so glad that he took pictures! I gave him one of my old point and shoot camera's to use. He said that he kept forgetting to take pictures... can't blame him since I have been the primary person to take pictures since we have been together (8 years).

Here are the guys (minus 2 guys... bar? bathroom? who knows??) that went on the trip. You can't really see it in the pictures, but all of the guys have ridiculous moustaches. They grew out beards before the trip and then on Sunday night they all shaved so they could have the Tom Selleck moustache. I thought it was a pretty hilarious idea... the guys can be pretty creative.
